JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Not that Jackson needed to top another list of most desirable places to live, but Invaluable.com’s list was interesting for a couple of reasons. The auction/gallery company is one of the fastest-growing e-commerce sites in the art world. Its recent post “The 10 Most Charming Cities in America” included Jackson along with some of the regular hotspots often tapped in such a list.

Okay, so what makes a city charming?

“After compiling a list of 998 mid-sized cities, we researched the walkability of each city, and then ranked them by the number of antique shops, restaurants, and hotels. We also gathered the date each city was founded because history definitely adds to the charm factor,” Invaluable wrote.

Jackson, and the nine other cities on the list, had a “walk score” of 80 or higher—meaning one could “easily park the car and spend the rest of the day perusing the many antique shops on foot,” according to Invaluable.

Here’s what the folks at Invaluable had to say about our town:

“Jackson is one of the fastest growing small towns in America and it’s easy to see why. Within reach of both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, the town is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. The town square has developed into a large shopping and eating district, so start your exploration there.”

Being called “walkable” is likely news welcomed by town leaders, who are striving to create a vibrant, walkable downtown. Named as “one of the fastest-growing small towns in America” is not exactly a surprise but seeing it in print, out there for the world to read, is a bit frightening.
