JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Butch Gosselin, a member of Jackson Hole Fire/EMS since 2002, will be presented with the prestigious “Legion of Merit” award for his distinguished military service.
Butch is a proud Wyoming National Guard active member and has been active in the service for 42 years. Butch’s rank at the time of his official retirement from the National Guard was Master Sergeant. The Legion of Merit is typically awarded to Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force General Officers and Colonels. To receive this award for service at the rank of Master Sergeant is both very rare and a high honor in recognition of service.
The Legion of Merit is officially awarded for ‘exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements.’ It is issued to members of the seven uniformed services of the United States, as well as to military and political figures of foreign governments. The Legion of Merit award was created in 1942.
“Jackson Hole Fire/EMS is both extremely proud and incredibly fortunate to have Butch in our ranks,” said Brady Hansen, Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Chief. “The honor and recognition that he is receiving is well deserved, and we are all grateful for his service to this country.”
Major Mike Pezeshki will be joined by Major General Luke Reiner for the presentation of the award. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, March 6, at Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Station 1 Upstairs Training Room at 2:00pm.
