JACKSON HOLE, WYO – It’s official: Teton Raptor Center has a Poo-Poo screen in every state.
The Poo-Poo Project is the center’s national effort to prevent wildlife entrapment in vault toilets by screening the vent pipe. Recently, Delaware received four screens to cap vent pipes in outhouses located in Bellevue State Park. That was a significant milestone as Delaware was the last state remaining without one.
David Watson, TRC’s director of development, said “Our goal was to be in all 50 states by the end of 2017, and Delaware was the final state Teton Raptor Center needed to achieve that goal. Since January of this year, Teton Raptor Center has secured Poo-Poo Projects in 20 new states with the help of volunteers and supporters sharing information about the project and creating awareness about wildlife entrapment issues.”
Just two weeks ago, the center achieved a different conservation milestone when long-time Poo-Poo Project supporter Missoula Concrete Construction purchased the 10,000th Poo-Poo Screen. Their conservation-minded staff has added a free Teton Raptor Center Poo-Poo Screen for all vault toilet orders.
“We are very proud to support TRC’s Poo-Poo Project and will continue to do our part in ensuring the safety of all wild birds who come in contact with our vault toilets,” said construction company owner Adam Bauer.
