JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Search and Rescue volunteers return to the hangar and stow their gear after a callout, and shortly after, they are called to go on another mission. What a busy summer—and now extended summer season—it has been for the volunteer organization.

TCSAR received another pageout Wednesday afternoon regarding a woman on a hunting trip in the Sheffield Creek area. She sustained a broken leg after getting kicked by a horse. Unable to walk or ride, the victim and her companions alerted first responders via an emergency locator beacon.

TCSAR responded by driving to the trailhead near Flagg Ranch and hiking in with the wheeled litter. After assessing and packaging the patient, volunteers put her in the wheeled litter and transported her about a mile down the trail to a waiting ambulance.

Thirteen volunteers handled the mission, completing the rescue in just under five hours door-to-door.
