DUBOIS, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) announced that it will reopen US26/287 over Togwotee Pass on Friday, Sept. 6, at 7 a.m.

The highway has been closed since Monday due to smoky conditions and roadside firefighting operations associated with the Fish Creek Fire, which is burning across 18,734 acres in the Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

WYDOT Area Maintenance Supervisor Mike Hitshew said via press release that drivers will be led through the area west of Dubois where the wildfire has been most active close to the highway.

“WYDOT’s Dubois maintenance crew will be piloting traffic through the fire between milepost 26 and milepost 29.8 tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” Hitshew said in the release. “This area is near the Fremont-Teton county line.”

Hitshew added that WYDOT will continue to monitor the area for traffic hazards.

“If it’s clear Friday evening and Saturday evening, the road will stay open for the weekend,” Hitshew said.
