DUBOIS, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has announced the closure of US26/287 west of Dubois on the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 2, due to “excessive smoke and limited visibility” from the Fish Creek Fire.

The road closed around 4 p.m. on Monday between the east boundary of Grand Teton National Park and Lava Mountain Lodge, according to WYDOT. A re-opening time has yet to be announced.

“As of this morning, more than 15,500 acres had burned on the Fish Creek Fire,” WYDOT posted to Facebook. “The fire has been very active today and continues to burn in a northeast direction. Hot winds, low humidity and higher-than-normal temperatures are helping the fire to advance near to US26/287 (Togwotee Pass).”

The wildfire forced a closure of Togwotee Pass on Aug. 22, too.

“If you’re able, make alternative travel plans,” WYDOT said. Visit wyoroad.info for more information.
