JACKSON HOLE, WYO – It’s been said by more than a few critics and fans that Hellbound Glory’s first two records—Scumbag Country (2008) and Old Highs and New Lows (2010)—are two of the best records to ever be logged into the country music catalog. This was noted by SavingCountryMusic.com and endorsed by the band’s good friend, Shooter Jennings, who stated “I have no doubt this guy is going to go down in history as one of the greatest singers and songwriters in this country.”

Also according to Jennings, Bradley Cooper’s character in A Star Is Born was partially based on Leroy Virgil, frontman of Reno’s Hellbound Glory. Jennings produced Hellbound Glory’s latest release, last year’s Pinball, and seemingly helped put Virgil back on the map. The album’s cover art has been a debated subject, though it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise from what is one of the last true outlaw country bands on the scene.

Pinball is a rowdy, fist pumpin’, bar-goin’, American-made set of scuzzy country rock about getting wasted, with witty quips about the NRA, and the dark sincerities that spill over from a year-long bender. At times, that makes for a no-holds-barred rollercoaster with plenty of social commentary and a bit of chaos.

Virgil sent Buckrail a new song titled “Jackson Hole Wyoming.” Give it a listen below or head over to Buckrail’s Soundcloud page. The lyrics to the chorus might entice you further…

“Jackson Hole, Jackson Hole, I’m-a gonna fetch my fishin’ pole / catch a little gal with a heart of gold, settle down in a mansion I stole / I’ll live like a jelly roll, up in Jackson Hole.”

Hellbound Glory, 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. MillionDollarCowboyBar.com.
