JACKSON, Wyo. — Drivers traveling Spring Gulch Road can expect short delays between Monday, May 5, and Wednesday, May 7, due to geotechnical research and surveying work, according to an announcement by Teton County.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on that Monday through Wednesday, crews will be drilling to collect road samples “as part of a geotechnical investigation that will be used to examine and address structural deficiencies in the road,” according to the County. This will necessitate alternating lane closures, which will be conducted by traffic controllers.
The County also shared that a mobile light detection and ranging (LiDAR) survey is planned for the road in the coming weeks, depending on weather. LiDAR data will create a high-resolution, three-dimensional model of the road’s surface to be used in future roadway designs. The device collecting the data will be in a vehicle traveling at 35 mph and is expected to have “minimal impact on traffic flow,” per the County. The survey will be conducted either the week of May 12 or May 19.
