WHAT: Teton Youth and Family Services Annual Open House and BBQ

Teton Youth and Family Services will be giving tours of the as well as providing a BBQ lunch.
Van Vleck House opened in 1977 to provide prevention, early intervention and treatment programs for Teton County youth. In 1986, Van Vleck House added the Group Home and Crisis Shelter to meet expanded community need for intervention and treatment services.
WHAT: Town and County Planning Staff presents open house and community conversation
WHEN: Thursday, June 1, 12pm
WHERE: Center for the Arts lobby
Public outreach event to hear opinions on housing, wildlife, parking, and town character. This project is a part of the Engage 2017 initiative, through which planning staff hope to carry out regular conversations on major updates to County and Town regulations happening this year.
Topics of discussion will include:
What can be done to protect wildlife habitat and improve water quality?
Where should workforce housing be built?
Where is parking an issue and how can parking be improved?
What role should businesses and developers play in providing workforce housing?
Who should qualify for deed-restricted housing and what rules should apply to them?
WHAT: Snake River Fund annual Guide’s Night event
WHEN: Thursday, June 1, 5-9pm
WHERE: Old Wilson Schoolhouse.
The focus of the event is to provide up to date educational information for the river rafting, fly fishing, and natural history guiding community. The general public is welcome, too. This year, presentations will be conducted by the Teton Raptor Center, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Mick Hopkinson and Ann Mattson.
Big Hole BBQ buffet, Roadhouse Brewing beer and non-alcoholic beverages provided. $10 entry, plus some raffle items.
WHAT: Teton Trail Runners 2017 Season Kick-off event

This year tetontrailrunners.com will feature a presentation by Brian Hunter, who ran 1500 miles across Mongolia to raise awareness about the orphans of that country. WHAT: Senior Capstone Project presentation

WHERE: Jackson Hole High School Media Center and English Hall classrooms
Parents, staff, faculty, students and community members are invited. The Senior Capstone Project is a student-centered, student-selected study of a topic. The Senior Capstone provides students the opportunity to customize their educational program and to pursue areas of interest or investigate a career, both in and outside the traditional classroom. Throughout the year students work with faculty and community members to design a program with measurable learning objectives and must demonstrate mastery of the program components and complete the project within the established timeline.

Ron Novak will lead the discussion on “Indian Camp” by Ernest Hemingway. This year’s readings are from The Great Books Foundation’s “Short Story Omnibus.” They can also be found in other places, like the Internet! JH ACTivate hosts an Alternative Town Hall as one event in Wyoming’s statewide day of action. You’re invited to express your concerns with a twist. The event will combine the traditional town hall forum with the spontaneity and expressive nature of an open mic or talent show.
