JACKSON, Wyo. — Central Wyoming College has named Alex Jackson as its 2026 Student of the Year, recognizing her outstanding academic achievement, leadership and commitment to her peers and community.

A student based in Jackson, Alex Jackson has distinguished herself as a top performer in her cohort while demonstrating a rare combination of intellectual curiosity, initiative and compassion. Faculty describe her as a student who consistently goes beyond expectations — seeking deeper understanding, embracing complexity and challenging herself to grow in every aspect of her education.

“Alex is exceptional in every room she walks into,” said Anna Baler, CWC Nursing faculty and nominator. “Her academic performance is remarkable, but what truly sets her apart is her drive to understand the bigger picture and elevate those around her.”

In addition to her academic excellence, Jackson has made a lasting impact through her leadership. She actively contributes thoughtful feedback to improve program learning experiences, offering ideas for integrating case studies, and her help with developing simulated electronic health records. Her approach is rooted in collaboration and a genuine desire to strengthen the learning environment for all students.

Jackson’s leadership is equally evident in her support of her peers. She is known for mentoring fellow students, organizing study groups and community-building activities, and stepping in during challenging moments with encouragement and guidance. Her ability to foster connection has helped transform her cohort into a supportive and engaged learning community.

Her initiative extends beyond the classroom. Jackson has taken on additional responsibilities to improve program operations, including developing tools to streamline systems and support student success. In clinical settings, she has earned praise from healthcare professionals for her competence, compassion and professionalism.

Despite the challenges of studying in a high-cost, resort-town environment, Jackson has excelled — demonstrating resilience, determination and a deep commitment to her goals. Her success reflects not only her personal drive but also her dedication to building a meaningful academic and professional path.

“Alex represents the very best of what Central Wyoming College hopes to cultivate in its students,” said Dr. Coralina Daly, Vice President of Student Affairs. “She is a leader, a mentor and an extraordinary member of our community.”

Central Wyoming College’s Student of the Year award honors students who exemplify excellence in academics, leadership and service. Jackson’s achievements and impact make her a standout recipient of this recognition.
