GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — This week, Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) wants to remind visitors about where they and their four-legged friend can go in the winter.
In a Jan. 13 Facebook post, GTNP listed the following areas where dogs are allowed with their owners:
- Teton Park Road (TPR) closes to vehicle traffic in the winter and is groomed for various winter activities. Park visitors can take the snowshoe/walking lane and walk this road with pets, but they must be leashed at all times.
- Moose-Wilson Road (MWR) is closed to vehicle traffic in the winter but not groomed. Same etiquette from TPR applies here.
- Anywhere a vehicle can drive and no more than 30 feet from a road.
GTNP is reminding everyone that wildlife is still active in the Park. Dogs are not allowed on any Park trails at any time, and leashes are always required. Owners must also pick up dog poop; poop that disappears in the snow reappears in the spring.
GTNP also notes that cold temperatures can affect dogs. Read more about keeping pets safe this winter here.
