GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) has shared a spring recreation update ahead of the official visitor season, which begins on May 1.

Teton Park Road is open to nonmotorized travel, including walking, running, biking and skating, between Taggart Lake Trailhead and Signal Mountain Lodge. Park entrance fees are required to access this 14-mile stretch of road. GTNP reminds visitors that dogs are allowed on the Teton Park Road on a leash no longer than six feet, and that pet owners must clean up after their dogs.

Snow plow operations are “ongoing,” according to the announcement.

“Visitors should be alert for park vehicles and heavy equipment on all park roads, including the Teton Park Road,” the announcement reads. “Respect any road or wildlife closures marked by signs or barricades and use caution, as snow and ice may persist on some road sections. Please stay at least 100 feet away from snow removal operations so operators can see approaching pedestrians or cyclists.”

As long as the weather cooperates, Teton Park Road should open to vehicles on Thursday, May 1, along with the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center. See a full list of expected opening dates for park facilities here.

GTNP reminds visitors that bears are active in the park, and encourages visitors to carry bear spray when recreating outdoors.
