ALTA, Wyo. — Grand Targhee Resort has its sights set on a big opening weekend and 2022/23 season.
Thanks to abundant early-season snowfall, Targhee will open this Friday, Nov. 18 with one of its biggest opening days in years in terms of terrain and lifts. The resort has reported a 47-inch base, and 89 inches at the Chief Joseph plot. Both Dreamcatcher and Shoshone lifts will open on Friday and Blackfoot and Sacagawea will open Saturday, which leaves just the new Colter lift to open in the near future.
“Our team at Targhee has been working hard to get the mountain ready for the 22/23 season,” says Grand Targhee’s Director of Sales & Marketing Jill Gaylord. “The weather cooperated with us this year and gave the Tetons solid coverage. We are excited to be able to open the majority of our lifts on opening weekend.”
Targhee’s activity center is open for season pass pickups today from 4 – 6 p.m. and will be open tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Passholders have been asked to upload their photo and sign the waiver in advance to speed up the process. This is also the first year that Grand Targhee will have transitioned from paper tickets to the now common RFID access card.
The resort has also installed new lift ticket pick-up boxes, with three in the plaza and one located at the lodging check-in. The pick-up boxes operate like vending machines, where scanning the confirmation QR code initiates the printing and distribution of a Targhee Card.
Grand Targhee also offers a shuttle system to safely get skiers and riders from various locations in Teton Valley up to the resort to help reduce traffic.
