ALTA, Wyo. — The snow is falling and the mountains are calling.

Grand Targhee Resort on the west side of the Tetons has announced its rescheduled opening day. Chairlifts will spin for the first day of the season on Friday, Dec. 5. Starting Wednesday, uphill travel will be closed until further notice.

“A big thanks to our snowmakers, mountain ops team, and groomers for allowing us to get the mountain open this Friday!” the resort posted to social media.

According to an Instagram post on Tuesday, Grand Targhee will open with the Shoshone chairlift and Huckleberry magic carpet. The resort cautions that early conditions exist, and asks skiers to respect all closures.

On Monday, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort announced its opening day as Thursday, Dec. 4. Snow King Mountain Resort has yet to announce a new start date for the season.
