WYOMING – Pursuant to President Donald Trump’s proclamation issued today, Governor Matt Mead ordered both the US and Wyoming state flag be flown at half-staff statewide from sunrise until sunset starting immediately until Friday, October 6, 2017 in respect for the victims of the shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada.
To date, at least 58 have been confirmed dead and 515 injured after a gunman opened fire on spectators of a free, outdoor concert from a room on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay. Stephen Craig Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, Nevada has been identified as the shooter. The man took his own life.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility but authorities are saying there is no evidence to back that up and believe Paddock acted as a lone wolf with no ties to terrorism. A motive has still not been learned.
Jason Aldean was on stage when the shooting began at 10:08pm local time. He was not injured.
The incident is already being called the deadliest mass shooting in US history. Previously, 49 were killed and 58 injured at a Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida in June 2016.
