CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Governor Mark Gordon ordered both the U.S. and State of Wyoming flags to be flown at half-staff statewide from sunrise until sunset on Sunday, May 4, in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.

In accordance with Public Law 107-51, the flag of the U.S. will also be flown at half-staff at all federal office buildings.

Governor Gordon said in a statement that lowering the flags pays respect to the “brave firefighters and first responders who risk their lives to protect Americans.”

National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend will be held from Saturday, May 3 through Sunday, May 4, in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

According to the Presidential Proclamation, thousands of people will gather together during the memorial service to honor the lives and legacies of the fallen and to support fire hero families.
