Gillette woman killed in crash on snowy road Friday

WYOMING – Two Gillette residents collided on Southern Drive Friday resulting in one fatality.

On March 8, at around 7:01pm, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were requested by Gillette Police Department to assist with a two-vehicle collision on Southern Drive just inside city limits.

A 2012 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling eastbound on Southern Drive when the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve. The Chevrolet crossed into the westbound lane colliding with a 2018 Ford F-350.

The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as Lindsey Konyn, 30, of Gillette, Wyo. Konyn was not wearing her seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Ford has been identified as 29-year-old Gillette, Wyoming resident Devon Erickson. Erickson was wearing his seatbelt and did not sustain injuries in the crash.

The incident is still being investigated, however driving too fast for winter road conditions is being investigated as one of the contributing factors. The road conditions were ice and snow covered at the time of the crash.

This is the 27th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2019 compared to 12 in 2018, 14 in 2017, and 10 in 2016 to date.
