JACKSON, Wyo. — The Garaman Pathway is once again open to cyclists and pedestrians, Buckrail has confirmed.

The pathway opened back up to users on the evening of Monday, July 1, according to Teton County Pathways Coordinator Brian Schilling. The Town of Jackson closed the pathway on Wednesday, June 26, to allow crews to clear out the Wort Ditch irrigation pipe, which had failed earlier in June. This pipe diverts water from Flat Creek through Garaman Park and along the pathway to Northern South Park for irrigation.

The closure was originally expected to last for about two days, but clearing the pipe took longer than anticipated. Schilling noted that Public Works employees had to crawl inside the pipe to clear out debris when power-washing didn’t suffice.

Schilling said long-term maintenance plans for the Wort Ditch are being devised to avoid similar issues in the future.
