Amy Fulwyler (The Community School)

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Jackson Hole Community School announced today that Head of School Amy Fulwyler will be stepping down in June of 2020. She has been a member of the faculty and administration of the School since it opened in 2004.

Fulwyler explained, “I have not arrived at this decision lightly. I continue to believe strongly in the School’s mission and culture, and feel deeply connected to our students, alumni, staff, and families. The Community School is a huge piece of who I am as an educator and my time here has been, without question, the highlight of my 28-year career in education. Having seen the School through creation, growth, challenges, and successes, it is now time for me to pursue other interests and passions.”

Mark Wan, Chair of the Board of Directors, said the school is in a better position today under Fulwyler’s leadership and the board is disappointed to see her go.

“The school is in an excellent position, with ideal enrollment numbers and outstanding student retention. Our financial situation is strong, allowing our financial aid/scholarship program to grow. Under Amy’s leadership our student body has become more diverse, and faculty turnover has remained extremely low,” Wan said. “While we as a board would have preferred to see Amy continue as Head of School, we respect and appreciate the terrific leadership she has provided to the School and the thoughtful approach she has taken to her transition.”

Mike Eden, alumni parent and Vice Chair of the Board, will serve as the Chair of the search committee for a new Head of School, and the search process will invite input from faculty, students, parents, and alumni. The board looks forward to a positive transition to a new leader for The Community School.
