The screening will include an A1C test, which measures an individual’s average blood sugar level over the past three months. Information on diet and exercise will also be provided.
If you are age 45 or older and you identify with at least one of the following, you are eligible for this screening:
- Family history of diabetes
- Not a regular exerciser
- Low HDL cholesterol and/or high triglycerides
- High blood pressure
- Gestational diabetes
St. John’s also has a free online screening available for type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. Upon completion of the online screening, St. John’s Diabetes & Nutrition will follow up with you if you are at risk for type 2 diabetes.
