JACKSON, Wyo. — Curious about the world of snowsports beyond alpine skiing? Want to give nordic skiing, fat biking, or snowshoeing a try?

Join the JH Noric Alliance for the 4th Annual Free Nordic Ski, Fat Bike, and Snowshoe Day at Turpin Meadows Ranch this Sunday, January 5. The day is free and open to all ages and abilities.

Thanks to generous local sponsorships, participants can demo skis, fat bikes, and snowshoes for free. Skate and classic ski gear is available from Skinny Skis, Rossignol, Madshus, Salomon, and Fisher. Fat bikes are available thanks to Fitzgerald’s, Hoback Sports, Friends of Pathways, and Teton Mtn Bike Tours.

Plus, Hole Hiking Experience is leading free snowshoe tours and JH Ecotour Adventures will lead free backcountry nordic tours. Young ones can hang out in the kids corral, and there’s a Junior Nordic track for kids 6-12 thanks to 22 Nordic.

Dogs are welcome too! Leashes will be required for dogs near the main lodge but they are free to roam the trails, just be sure to clean up after them.

There’s something for everyone. And if that’s not enticing enough, Melvin has provided free beer and Litte Red Cafe is bringing the food truck — not free, but dang good and reasonably priced. And if you haven’t been to Turpin Meadows, you’ll fall in love with the quaint but luxurious log cabin ranch.

The event features a raffle benefiting one of the JH Nordic Alliance non-profits, the JH Ski Club Nordic program, with an Otso “Stay Wild” fat bike donated by the JH Travel & Tourism Board. There are lots of other raffle prizes as well.

The day is free, but participants need to register and sign the activity waiver in advance. Speed things up by registering online.
