WYOMING — The Food from the Field program, collected 215 harvested animals in 2021, totaling 9,841 pounds of donated game meat, announced the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

The program is led by Wyoming’s First Lady Jennie Gordon and asks hunters to donate extra game meat to families in need. The meat is distributed to food pantries statewide.

Food from the Field is a partnership between Wyoming Hunger Initiative, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Wyoming Department of Agriculture, and participating processors to streamline game meat donations. All deer and elk undergo appropriate CWD testing to ensure safety prior to entering the food bank system.
