JACKSON, WY— The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a flood watch in Jackson Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8.
A flood watch means flooding is possible in low-lying areas. Spots like Cache Creek have already started to see the wearing effects of Spring weather. Temperatures are expected to warm up into the high 40s, and rainfall on top of snow can “accelerate snowmelt and cause flooding in places that aren’t near waterways or in FEMA flood zones,” according to the weather advisory on Weather.gov. Residents are advised to prepare now if their property is prone to flooding or in a low-lying area.
Sandbags are available for Teton County residents and business. Teton County also provides the following flood preparation advice:
