MORAN, Wyo. — A river flood advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) for Pacific Creek, which runs through Grand Teton National Park and empties into the Snake River.

The advisory is in effect from May 18 until further notice.

According to NWS, “Flooding caused by snowmelt is expected.” Park rangers have reported water reaching, and slightly exceeding, the banks of Pacific Creek where it intersects the Snake River.

Action stage is seven feet, while flood stage is eight feet. At seven feet, minor low level flooding along lower banks is expected. At eight feet, flooding of the upstream U.S. Forest Service campground, which includes seven campsites, is expected, with minor lowland flooding intensifying and becoming more widespread.

NWS expects the river to fluctuate below flood stage but remain above action stage through at least the beginning of next week.
