JACKSON, Wyo. — Two fires reported Sunday morning are burning in the backcountry near the Idaho/Wyoming border, one being above Mosquito Creek. High winds and steep, rugged terrain are impeding firefighting efforts.
Smoky Hollow Fire
Located approximately 6 miles southwest of Wilson, Wyoming, just above Mosquito Creek, currently burning 10 acres. The cause is undetermined.
15 firefighters are currently on the scene as the fire is 0% contained.

The fire is burning in very steep terrain with an estimated 50% slope. Multiple falling snags and high winds are affecting firefighter’s ability to engage the fire safely. No structures are threatened, but the public is asked to stay out of the area.
If you see the fire, Bridger Teton National Forest and Caribou-Targhee National Forest services are already aware and on the scene. Dispatch is getting a lot of calls, and no further reports are needed for this fire at the time.

Dry Waterfall Fire
Located near Upper Palisades Lake, 9 miles east of Swan Valley. The lightning-caused fire has currently burned .1 acre.
Fire resources: Helitack Crew. Five crew members of the Helitack Crew are on scene. Containment is currently 0%.
