Leah C. Schwartz and William P. (“Bill”) Schwartz

JACKSON, Wyo.— It wasn’t long after they learned they were expecting their second son that Leah Schwartz and her husband, Brad Adams, decided to rent a U-Haul and relocate from Cheyenne to Leah’s hometown of Jackson. “It was a wonderful place to grow up,” Leah says, “and we knew we wanted the opportunities of Jackson for our own kids.”

The move has prompted another family adventure of sorts—with Leah and her father, Bill, deciding to join forces professionally to continue the family’s longstanding law practice, Ranck & Schwartz, LLC. Their mission is to help people and organizations resolve conflict in the most productive and cost-effective ways possible, whether through simple counsel, facilitation of communication, mediation, litigation, or other strategies.

Ranck & Schwartz first opened its doors at 20 East Simpson in Jackson in 1990 when Bill and his wife, Cheryl, joined forces with Cheryl’s late father, lawyer and retired District Court Judge, Robert B. Ranck. Although Cheryl’s practice centered on the representation of children and family law mediation, the firm’s traditional focus has always been on assisting people and organizations to resolve conflict, whether through court proceedings or otherwise. The addition of Leah to the firm coincides with Bill’s interest in re-engaging in the firm’s practice after his lengthy rehabilitation from Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), an auto-immune illness that required him to step away from the firm for a considerable period.

“During Leah’s time away from Jackson she received excellent training and experience at the hands of a number of judges and great Wyoming lawyers,” Bill says. “I’m excited about the opportunity we have to build on the legacy of our firm.” Leah adds: “I feel very fortunate to be able to team up with someone as experienced and skilled as my dad to serve people and organizations in Jackson. I feel so invested in this place.”
