JACKSON, Wyo. — Once the snow begins to fly, it’s the before dawn plow crew that works to ensure residents can safely drive to their destinations.

The Town of Jackson’s plow crew maintains the streets from 3 to 7 a.m., or until plowing is complete. All main streets are to be plowed by business hours and maintained within 24 hours of snowstorms.

According to the Town of Jackson, all public streets, alleys and parking lots within Town limits are plowed. Emergency routes and main arteries are prioritized first, after that the remainder of all streets, then alleys and then parking lots. The Town’s plow crew is not permitted to deviate from their assigned routes in order to be as efficient as possible. South of High School Road and north of Dairy Queen is plowed by the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT).

Residents are responsible for plowing their own driveways and for clearing sidewalks in front of their homes.

Even on days without new snow, plows can be seen on the streets with blades up spreading sand in order to assist commuters and walkers during slick conditions. For those who would like assistance navigating icy sidewalks, Age Friendly Jackson Hole collects and places ski poles at various intersections. For help with that process, call the Senior Center at: 307-733-7300.

To assist the efforts of the plow crew, street parking is restricted during winter months from 3 to 7 a.m. If vehicles are parked on the street during these hours, plow drivers won’t be able to deliver their service.

During a snow storm, the Town of Jackson advises residents to limit travel or stay off the roads entirely, if possible.
