Wyoming Game and Fish will be electrofishing the Salt River to conduct a population estimate on the stretch of river downstream Etna/Creamery Road on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights, July 29-31. This electrofishing is conducted at night, which increases re-capture rates on fish and gives a better estimate of the population.

Electrofishing is a common scientific survey method used to sample fish populations to determine abundance, density, and species composition. When performed correctly, electrofishing results in no permanent harm to fish, which return to their natural state in as little as two minutes after being caught.
