PINEDALE, Wyo. — Additional details have emerged following the murder of 23-year-old Dakota Farley of Big Piney and the formal charges of 19-year-old Rowan Littauer and 18-year-old Orion Schlesinger, both also from Big Piney.
According to charging documents provided by the Pinedale Roundup, Littauer shot Farley with a compound bow in the arm and head, killing him; Littauer then used a bb-style pistol to shoot eight bbs into Farley’s scalp following his death.
The documents also point to Littauer’s motivation for killing Farley, writing, “One less pedifile [sic] now,” but the Pinedale Roundup has confirmed with the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) that it remains unverified that Farley was engaged in that kind of behavior.
Littauer is charged with murder in the first degree, which is a felony punishable by death, life imprisonment without parole or life in prison. He is also charged with mutilation of a dead human body, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.
Schlesinger is charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree and felony theft, which could face the death penalty, life imprisonment without parole or life imprisonment, plus an additional 10 years for the felony theft charge.
Both men will appear in court today, Feb. 7.
