WYOMING — The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced on Wednesday, April 2, that producers and ranchers who suffered losses in wildfires across Wyoming in 2024 are still eligible to apply for disaster relief funding.

On March 24, the NRCS resumed processing applications for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for wildfire recovery.

“We met with producers throughout the fall who were affected by the wildfires, and we want to expedite assistance,” NRCS State Conservationist Jackie Byam said in the announcement. “With the demands and urgency of spring grazing upon us, we’re working to meet the needs of those affected by the wildfires through EQIP.”

In October 2024, NRCS in Wyoming allocated $4 million through EQIP for fire recovery on private lands across the state, with a majority of interest from landowners affected by the House Draw Fires.

NRCS accepts applications year-round for EQIP and other conservation programs, and impacted producers can continue to apply for assistance by contacting the NRCS at their local USDA Service Center.

For application criteria and submission deadlines for all of USDA’s relief programs, contact the USDA Wyoming State Office or for more information, visit nrcs.usda.gov.
