Deal finalized on sale of iconic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Bill Baxter and the Baxter family are pleased to announce that The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar has been sold by Art and Carol Andersen to Baxter Properties, also owners of The Wort Hotel.

The sale of the real estate and the business was finalized earlier today after Buckrail broke the story back in October. Silver Dollar, Inc, which also manages The Wort Hotel, will take over day-to-day operation of the Cowboy beginning at its noon opening today.

Baxter Properties principal, Bill Baxter, commented, “This is an exciting time for our family to have the opportunity to continue the great tradition of The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. We wish Art and Carol the very best and thank them for 30 great years of stewardship.”

Jim Waldrop, vice president of Silver Dollar, Inc., commented further and took the opportunity to name the bar’s new GM.

“Silver Dollar Inc. looks forward to the opportunity to manage this iconic property. We also look forward to welcoming Buddy Howell into his new role as the general manager of The Cowboy,” Waldrop said. “Very exciting times for us all.”

No major changes are slated for The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. The core group of long-term employees of The Cowboy is continuing with the new owners. There will be some interior and exterior renovation work completed in the spring of 2018. A grand re-opening is slated for May 2018.

Silver Dollar Inc. is the operating entity of The Wort Hotel, The Wort Plaza, and now The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.
