JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Buckrail has learned a deal has been reached to sell the iconic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar to Bill Baxter (Baxter Properties).
Current Cowboy Bar owners Carol and Art Andersen made the announcement late this afternoon. The Andersens have owned the Cowboy since 1988.
“It has been a great honor and a pleasure to have been the caretakers of such an historic and iconic bar,” Carol Andersen said. “Art and I are so appreciative of all our loyal patrons from all over the world. We are very proud of all that we have been able to accomplish the past 30 years. None of these accomplishments would have been possible without our dedicated group of employees, we are so thankful to each of them. So many great memories. It has been a large part of our life. We will miss it, lots.”
Baxter, who bought the Wort in 2004, said, “This is an exciting time for our family to have the opportunity to continue the great tradition of The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. We wish Art and Carol the very best and thank them for 30 great years of stewardship. Our team in Jackson Hole, in collaboration with The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, is fully equipped and prepared to take on the transition, and is committed to continuing the legacy of The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.”
Transfer of ownership is scheduled for early 2018.
