JACKSON, Wyo. — The snow is melting, the sun is rising earlier and setting later, and we’re delighted to see all of the signs of springtime in the mountains. And, best of all, Dave Hansen Whitewater (DHW) is gearing up for the most exciting time of year: rafting season on the Snake River!
This year, DHW is thrilled to announce new early morning and late afternoon whitewater rafting trips: the day’s first trip will launch at 8 a.m., and the day’s final trip will launch at 4:45 p.m. Those trips have a ton of benefits (beyond just the free wetsuits) — they might just be our favorite times to be on the water.
Morning and Evening Are Ideal for Wildlife
Local wildlife prefers to visit the river during the morning and evening hours when it’s not too hot or busy. DHW’s early morning and late afternoon trips are a great chance to see elk, deer, eagles, coyotes, and even bears.
The lighting is beautiful, and the river is just a little quieter than in the middle of the afternoon bustle and heat.
Perfect for a Busy Visit
Dave Hansen Whitewater knows there are lots of activities on your itinerary in Jackson Hole — it’s an amazing place with plenty of adventures. With these new trip times, you don’t have to choose between rafting and the other exciting to-dos on your list, even if you’re only in Jackson Hole for one day.
Their early morning trip is off the river and back to town just in time for lunch. After enjoying one of Jackson Hole’s top-shelf eateries, your afternoon is open for the next activity. Just like a true Jackson local, you can enjoy a multi-sport day. Hiking? Biking? A trail ride? It’s up to you!
Rafters will have plenty of time to enjoy the afternoon and evening in town: a relaxing dinner, an outdoor concert, or a rowdy evening at the rodeo.
If you’ve already got a morning activity lined up, like a horseback ride or wildlife safari, the late afternoon trip is ideal. There’s plenty of time to explore the valley, and end on a high note: an exhilarating splash-fest through Jackson Hole’s best stretch of whitewater. There isn’t a better way to wrap up the perfect day in Jackson Hole!
Free Wetsuits
To maximize your comfort, the early morning trips departing at 8 a.m. include a free wetsuit rental. DHW wants to make sure you’re focused on having an unforgettable ride and enjoying all of the stunning scenery that the Snake River has to offer.
With warming weather and summertime just around the corner, Dave Hansen looks forward to riding some waves with you this summer and getting to share this supremely special part of life in Jackson Hole.
