CWC hires new volleyball coach Central Wyoming College Volleyball Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

WYOMING – Athletic director Steve Barlow announced last Friday that Central Wyoming College has hired a new volleyball coach. After an extensive search, Darshaya Gallard, the former assistant coach at Seward County Community College, has been hired to lead the Rustler volleyball team.
“We are very fortunate to have someone of Darshaya’s caliber coming to CWC,” Barlow said. “She has either played or coached at every level, including professionally. With that knowledge and experience, she will be able to build a winning program for our girls.”
Barlow referenced Gallard’s impressive resume, which includes an extensive player career that began as a middle blocker at Barton County Community College. From there she received a full ride scholarship to NCAA Division II Fort Hays State University in Kansas where she played under coach Jesse Mahoney who now coaches at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Gallard went on to play professionally in the international circuit for six years in Sweden, Germany, and France before her career was ended with an unfortunate injury. She also spent time training on the beach volleyball court in southern California. In nearly all of her teams, she served in a captain role or as a team leader.
“I am really looking forward to building a strong foundation with the girls and growing the program from where it is now,” Gallard said. “I want them to walk away from the court feeling proud of themselves and confident in their game. Since I am from a rural area, I enjoy the smalltown lifestyle. I feel the community of Riverton and surrounding areas are highly supportive and involved with Central Wyoming College and their athletic department and I am excited to be included in this family environment.”
