JACKSON, Wyo. — A handful of local nonprofits and organizations have canceled upcoming events as Teton County moves back into “red” (high) risk level for COVID-19.

Here’s a run-down of events that have been called off:

Whole Food Rescue’s Million Pound Rescue Party

Whole Food Rescue’s biggest party of the year has been canceled for the second year on a row due to COVID-19. The event is a celebration and the non-profit’s way of saying “thank you” to the community for helping reduce food waste. It was scheduled for Aug. 26 this year.

“We are responsible to our community when in need, and must ensure that we can provide that support and keep each other safe,” said Executive Director Lisa Lent in an announcement. “We did that at the height of the pandemic, and we will continue to do that throughout these challenging times.”

Hole Food Rescue will give refunds to any ticket holders who want them. You can also email Emily Wuebbolt to have your ticket count as a tax-deductible donation.

JHMR’s Bikes & Brews and Concert on the Commons

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has canceled two events this weekend. Saturday’s Bikes & Brews and Sunday’s Concert on the Commons are both called off.

“Safety continues to be our number one priority. In addition to Teton County recommending not attending large gatherings, JHMR has experienced rain all week. The venue for the brewfest is saturated, and the JH Bike Park trails may be closed due to wet conditions,” said JHMR’s Senior Events and Partnerships Manager Jess McMillan.

JHMR will decide the fate of the final Concert on the Commons, scheduled for Aug. 29, down the road based on county risk levels for COVID-19.

St. John’s Auxiliary Golf Tournament

The St. John’s Health Auxiliary and St. John’s Health Foundation canceled the 29th Annual Auxiliary Golf Tournament, scheduled for Aug. 24. The annual event raises funds for the Auxiliary’s pledge, which has previously funded radiology equipment and other capital investments at St. John’s Health. This is the second year the event has been canceled because of the pandemic.

If you have already registered as a player or sponsor for the tournament, St. John’s Health Foundation will provide a refund if desired. If you would like to donate your refund to the Auxiliary’s pledge or have any questions, contact Claire O’Connell at coconnell@stjohns.health.

Community Safety Network’s Self Defense Advocate Gathering

A self defense gathering planned for Community Safety Network advocates has been canceled. The event was scheduled for Aug. 25.
