WYOMING – When faced with an extraction event Sunday, Fremont County officials and Dubois Search and Rescue called for a short haul rescue. One problem: the chopper broke down.

Dubois SAR IC requested a short haul as the best method to get a 15-year-old out of the wilderness when he became injured in a horse wreck near Ross Lake. The Classic medical helicopter attempted the mission but malfunctioned. A call was made to Sublette County where Tip Top Search and Rescue scrambled its short haul team and got its contracted Stable Flight chopper in the air.

TTSAR members safely extracted the injured teen and delivered him to a waiting ambulance where he received transport to hospital and further medical care. The mission was completed by 9pm.
