JACKSON, Wyo. — For those ready to plant this spring, the Teton Conservation District (TCD) is offering matching grant funding for residents of Teton County to support native vegetation and agriculture projects.
The grant program requires a minimum 50% cash or in-kind labor or equipment match from the applicant. Teton Conservation District will also provide on-the-ground support to discuss agricultural practices that enhance natural resources.
TCD launched the Conservation Planting Program (CPP) in 2022 to support agricultural and native vegetation projects in order to improve soil health, water quality and air quality. The CPP offers both a residential program and an agricultural program. The agricultural CPP supports agriculture practices that benefit natural resources and the community food system. The residential CPP encourages landowners to incorporate native pollinator species into their landscape.
Example projects could include:
- Native plant and pollinator gardens (up to $1,000)
- Greenhouses (up to $500)
- High tunnels for agricultural purposes (up to $5,000)
- Developing new community or subdivision gardens (up to $2,000)
- Conservation tillage and cover crop practices (up to $10,000)
Anyone can apply, including farmers, ranchers, landowners, renters (with permission from the landowner), businesses, nonprofits, schools and residents interested in growing food at home.
