JACKSON, Wyo. — In 2027, Center for the Arts (CFTA) in Jackson will celebrate its 20th anniversary, and it is putting out an open call to artists who are interested in transforming The Center lawn for the occasion.
As stated in a Wednesday press release, The Center is seeking a “bold, imaginative and enduring” outdoor installation that will invite interaction and engagement. The optimal piece of art should enhance the role of the 62,000-square-foot green space as a venue for musical performances, community events and daily recreation. The piece is expected to be installed in the spring or summer of 2027.
“The Center came about from a need to protect and preserve the local arts scene in Jackson,” CFTA Executive Director Marty Camino said in the news release. “As we approach our 20th year, we’re celebrating two decades of providing stability and rootedness for an arts community that inspires creative expression across nearly every medium. We look forward to supporting an installation that captures the spirit of Jackson and our vibrant creative community.”
Jackson Hole Public Art has been chosen to serve as the project manager for this endeavor. Professional artists and artist teams across the country are invited to apply. Applicants are asked to submit a statement of qualifications for a large-scale, four-season outdoor sculpture or installation. The Center asks that the artwork demonstrate a connection to place, and that applicants demonstrate the capacity to deliver artworks of comparable size, budget and complexity.
The deadline for statements of qualification is March 1. Click here for full project details.
