GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — Spring has sprung!
A sure sign of the changing seasons in the valley is emerging as Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) begins plowing efforts on the Teton Park Road. GTNP posted an update to Facebook on Friday afternoon saying that the Teton Park Road is currently closed for snow removal. The road is expected to open by April 1 for non-motorized use such as cycling, roller skating, skateboarding, walking and leashed pet walking.
“For your safety, do not access the road while plows or rotary equipment are working,” GTNP wrote. “Skiers and snowshoers near the roadway are cautioned to stay clear of flying snow, chunks of ice, and gravel thrown by the equipment — it can travel far!”
According to the post, GTNP’s paved pathway is ice-free and open for walking and biking from the southern entrance station to Beaver Creek, approximately 2 miles to the north. Pets are not allowed on the pathway.
Other park roads that close in the winter will remain gated or posted until conditions allow. Opening dates will vary depending on snow, weather, plowing, wildlife and road conditions. Learn more about road status on GTNP’s website.
