DRIGGS, Idaho — Caribou-Targhee National Forest (CTNF) announced that the closure for the Rim Trail Fire area will be rescinded tonight, August 29, at 11:59 p.m.
Forest roads 658, 809, 813 and Trails 002, 010, 013, 015 will reopen for public use starting tomorrow. According to CTNF, the wildfire, located northeast of Tetonia, is currently 27 acres and 100% contained.
CTNF wrote on Facebook that recent widespread moisture over the past three days has moderated fuel conditions and aided firefighter containment. A drying trend is expected over the weekend with warmer, drier conditions next week, per CTNF.
CTNF also released the following final wildfire updates:
- Rocky Top Fire, northwest of Swan Valley, is currently is 3.2 acres and smoldering. Suppression and confinement strategies are in place for firefighter safety.
- The Toponce Fire, northeast of Inkom, is currently 19 acres and 100% contained.
- The Chicken Fire, east of Swan Valley, is currently 0.10 acres and 100% contained
“Thank you for your patience during the Rim Trail closure and for continuing to follow fire safety guidelines on your National Forest,” CTNF wrote.
