TETON COUNTY, Idaho — On Thursday, Sept. 4, Caribou-Targhee National Forest (CTNF) announced that Stage 1 fire restrictions have been officially rescinded on Eastern Idaho’s federal, state and private forest and rangelands, roads and trails.

This summer, fire restrictions were put into place in response to multiple wildfires across the state.

CTNF wrote on Facebook that campfires and other activities are once again permitted, but visitors must continue to use caution.

“Always make sure your fire is completely out before leaving, keep water and a shovel nearby and never leave a fire unattended,” CTNF wrote.

CTNF reminds recreationists to enjoy the forest responsibly, and to help protect “this incredible place for everyone.”
