YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Ever stop for a minute and ponder things?

That’s what this mountain goat appears to be doing, sitting atop a travertine boulder in Yellowstone National Park. National Park Service photographer Jacob W. Frank snapped the photo this month.

According to the park, the infrequently seen species favors the northern portion of the park. An estimated 200 to 300 of the goats live in and adjacent to the park. Summer visitors are advised to watch for them in meadows, cliffs, ravines and forest in the northeastern and northwestern alpine habitats.

Readers: How would you caption this photo? If there were a speech bubble (or thought bubble) over the goat’s head, what would it say? Send your best pitch to tips@buckrail.com.
