JACKSON, Wyo. — The Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center (BTAC) published its first report for winter 2022/2023 yesterday, Nov. 6.

Today in the Teton Range avalanche danger is rated at moderate in the upper elevations and low in the mid-elevations. No rating was issued for the low elevations, below 7,500′, because the snowpack is still too shallow.

According to the BTAC forecast, warm and wet snow is expected early this week followed by colder and drier snowfall on Thursday and Friday. Avalanche danger will increase at the upper elevations as the early season snowpack is further loaded.

A daily avalanche forecast is issued by BTAC for the Teton, Togwotee and Grey’s River regions. The organization historically publishes forecasts daily through mid-April.

This past July, Dwayne Meadows was announced as the new Executive Director of BTAC.
