JACKSON, Wyo. — Familiar names are in the running for three open seats on the St. John’s Hospital District Board of Trustees, including Dr. Brent Blue.
After serving as Teton County Coroner for three terms (12 years), Blue is seeking a second term on the hospital board in an effort to continue working toward goals including long-term financial viability and improved customer service.
“We really have created a facility that is truly excellent as far as our physical facility, and we need to be able to support that,” Blue told Buckrail. “It’s one of those things — I think our population expects it and our tourists expect it, so we need to provide it.”
Blue has been with St. John’s as a physician and more for over 40 years. He said he makes it a priority to attend the quarterly medical staff meetings to represent the board. From his perspective, the current hospital leadership is the best he’s seen. Still, he hopes to help improve the ease and convenience of access for those seeking care.
“I’d like to be in a situation where people really feel like it’s easy to get appointments that they don’t have to wait months to do it,” Blue said.
Blue’s name appeared on the primary election ballot in an additional category. He ran for a spot on the Teton County Board of County Commissioners, but did not advance to the general election.
The hospital board race is uncontested; three incumbent candidates (including Blue) are looking to hold onto the three open seats. Pam Cutler and Katharine Conover-Keller also appear on the ballot. Election day is Nov. 3, and early voting is now open.
