TETON COUNTY, Idaho — Jeremy Albert Best, 48, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder for the death of his pregnant wife, Kali Randall Best, the Teton County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney announced Monday.

Best is charged with “shooting her in the back and/or right breast and/or right side and causing her death,” as well as “willfully, unlawfully, deliberately, with premeditation and malice aforethought and without legal justification, [killing] a human fetus carried by Mrs. Kali Randall Best.”

The document suggests that Randall Best was approximately 28 weeks pregnant.

Best remains in custody at the Bonneville County Jail. He will appear remotely before Magistrate Judge Jason Walker at the Teton County Courthouse at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4.

“In Idaho, Murder in the First Degree is punishable by 10 years to life imprisonment and may be punishable by death,” a statement from Teton County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney said. “The prosecution has 60 days from the defendant’s entry of initial plea to file a notice of intent to seek the death penalty.”

Best was charged with a third count: the use of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Randall Best was found deceased at her home in Victor after Teton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a hang-up 911 call on Thursday, Nov. 30. Officers launched a search for Best and his 10-month-old son, Zeke. Best was found and arrested on Saturday, Dec. 2. Their infant son, Zeke Best, was also found deceased.

Charges are yet to be brought for the death of infant Zeke Best. His cause of death has yet to be announced.
