SUBLETTE COUNTY, Wyo. — The crash that closed Highway 191 between Hoback and Bondurant yesterday claimed the life of a Bondurant resident.
William D. Saunders, 93, died early this morning from injuries sustained in the crash.
According to a press release from the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, Saunders was driving a Polaris Sportsman ATV on a private roadway at around 1:50 p.m. yesterday and pulled out onto the highway. He failed to see a northbound Subaru WRX. The Subaru collided with the ATV before crossing into the southbound lane and colliding with a Chevy Silverado.
The driver of the Subaru has been identified as 26-year-old Sean Jordon of Denver, Colorado. Jordan was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. His passenger, 29-year-0ld Meghan Ceselsky, was also wearing her seatbelt and was transported to St. John’s Medical Center.
The driver in the Chevrolet has been identified as 50-year-old Jackson, Wyoming resident John Clover. Clover was wearing his seatbelt and transported by private vehicle to St. John’s Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash.
Driver inattention on the part of Saunders is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
This is the 112th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2019 compared to 77 in 2018, 106 in 2017, and 84 in 2016 to date.
