JACKSON, Wyo. — It was during the height of the spring shut down that I learned firsthand the vast knowledge of the Bin22 team. Sure, I work for Fine Dining, but I had always just popped in and out of the shop, chatting with the team there for other reasons than to recommend a wine for me to enjoy at home. I usually gravitate to the same kinds of wine – white, not sweet, not too grapefruity.
While I was working from home and doing daycare at home and seemingly everything at home, I called my colleague, Neil Loomis (known throughout our company as the Dr of All Things Liquid) and asked him to change it up, to pick out a case of wine for me so I could change something about my usual lockdown routine. Neil asked me a few questions about what I liked, what I was open to trying more of and the price point I was hoping to stick to. He put together a case of wine for me that was placed in the back of my car for curbside service when I pulled up. (this service is still available!)
As a habit, I usually like talking to other hospitality professionals to learn their recommendations for dishes, wines, etc. Who better to recommend an item that the ones working with said product? The hand-picked selection of wine Neil picked for me was an instant hit. Several wines he chose for me were wines I would not have normally gravitated toward but are now my favorite go-to wines. In fact, I think it was actually me that temporarily bought Bin22 out of the Hacienda de Arinzano – sorry!
Heading into the holidays, rather than simply list a bunch of beverages that, on paper, are good for pairing with a Thanksgiving dinner, I decided to chat with the Bin22 team to get their own personal recommendations for the holiday.
