YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — A section of Beartooth Highway, US212, will close on Friday, Oct. 3, at noon due to forecasted winter weather, Yellowstone National Park announced Thursday.
“This is not a season ending closure,” the announcement states.
Beartooth Highway runs along the northern border of Wyoming, close to Montana. It is frequented by visitors coming to and from Yellowstone. According to Montana’s Department of Transportation (MDOT), the highway is typically open from Memorial Day through mid-October.
“Maintenance crews will assess conditions the week of October 6 and determine if the road will reopen,” MDOT’s website states. “The road will be closed at Vista Point through Wyoming.”
See Yellowstone’s road conditions website for further information.
