JACKSON, Wyo. — The reconstruction project for Swinging Bridge cleared another hurdle on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

The Teton County Board of County Commissioners met Tuesday and voted to send a letter of concurrence to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT), for the construction bid submitted by Reiman Corp.

Reiman Corp., a Cheyenne-based construction company, was the only company to bid on the project. According to the staff report, the project was estimated to cost $6.7 million. Reiman set their bid at $10,340,122.

The project is currently in the planning and design phase and is being funded through WYDOT’s bridge replacement off system (BROS) program. According to the county, the BROS program provides local governments with a federal funding source for large bridge replacements that otherwise would be financially challenging projects for local governments.

Teton County has agreed to a 9.51% match payment, which allows the County to weigh in on the bid proposal before it is sent to the WYDOT Commission for final approval.

If the bid is approved, the County’s 9.51% match would be $1,301,107.10.

According to the county, part of the funding for the project has already been expended for preliminary engineering and right-of-way. An additional $750,000 has been budgeted in fiscal year 2024 in the County’s road fund. The balance will be budgeted for fiscal year 2025.

Construction on the bridge is planned to begin this fall and will continue into the summer of 2024.
