JACKSON, Wyo. — The Bare Fire is now reported to be 5% contained and 370 acres, as opposed to a previously estimated 800 acres, as of Wednesday, August 12. Approximately 147 personnel are assigned to the fire.

The hot and windy weather on Tuesday challenged firefighters, but according to a press release from the Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF), “They continued to make progress. No new spot fires were found and crews continued to gain ground.”

Crews plan on continuing to use similar firefighting tactics to what they have already, and fire managers expect calmer fire behavior as the rain and higher humidity move in through the week.

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office downgraded its pre-evacuation notice for High Lonesome Ranch from “set” to “ready” on the “Ready, Set, Go” alert system.

Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in effect across the Teton Interagency Dispatch area, and the fire danger rating is still “high.” Latest updates about the fire can be found on InciWeb.
